Finally! I Can Share

I googled "Chopin Scherzo in C Sharp minor". I chose Rubenstein's performance. I love it that he said that this Scherzo takes more out of him than any other. I wish the camera could have captured more of his hands than his face, because that is where the action is. This piece is 27 pages long. I know because as a young 17 year old girl, I mastered this Scherzo. I want to share it with you, just to show my shining glory. It took a lot out of me, too. Every time I performed it, I was covered in the "glow" of hard work. This was the pinacle of my piano performance. I played it for my senior recital, and I auditioned (successfully) for a full ride scholarship at University of Montana. It makes tears well up in my eyes every time I hear it. It is so beautiful, so full of emotion, so satisfying, both spiritually and physically. Please enjoy it.

I'm listening to Chopin Scherzo in C Sharp minor right now (at work, on my break, don't tell) and I've never heard this piece before in my life? Why didn't you ever share it if it was such a personal favorite? I always enjoyed listening to you play. Especially when I was the honorable page turner. ;>)

I agree with Robert. I don't remember ever hearing this piece. It is nice and you should be proud of yourself. My crowning glory piece is not nearly so elaborate.

Being without a piano for ten years kind of got me out of condition for playing it, and I forgot it, too. You have to continue to practice things like that (Spanish?) to be able to use them. I never was able to get back the technique, speed, memorization after that. I always wanted to share it, but had no way to do it. It was a big frustration for me to have this big thing and not be able to share it. So, pretend I am sitting in his place, just a skinny little teeg-ager, and using my whole body to perform. He makes it look like it's just a little tune, but I think I was able to convey better the grandness of it. I just wish you could see his hands during those quick little notes between the big loud chords. That's where the beauty is.

I remember this piece well. This and a book of Joplin ragtime pieces were my absolute favorite to dance to.

As a matter of fact, you played it often enough that I could almost sing my favorite parts without googling it.
