Repentance or Rights?
As we were packing up the boxes of pictures to leave Tenino, Jay found a picture album off to the side in the room where the division of pictures was accomplished. We didnt know what to do with it, so I took it. There are pictures of Jim as a baby, my parents' wedding snapshots, and lots of pictures of me, or pictures that I took with my Brownie camera. There was a note on the album saying something about "checking the CD, and sending the originals to Jim to copy". I think there are others who can copy them just as well. I really dont want to trust the USPS with the album. Joyce had moved her boxes out of the room, and Jim had left with his the day before. All that were left in the room were my boxes, so I guessed this album must be for me. Now Joyce wants me to call her and tell her if I know what happened to it. I dont want to. What do you think?

Call her. Tell you've been swamped with blah, blah, blah. You'll be happy to go through your stuff when you get a minute. Then do whatever you like. :)
On second thought. I'd just keep the album and never say a word. Who's gonna tell? Why do they care? What are you really keeping from them?... I mean REALLY! It's good to be honest, but I suspect that if you came clean, there would be a big old fuss about if you took them intentionally and what else you took intentionally. Is there a way to NOT have a big hubbub???
I am inclined to agree. It would make more of a deal than anyone needs to be involved in. There has been enough arguing and ill feelings about all of the stuff and pictures specifically.
Robert, using Janet's login says, "Call her, tell her, explain to her. If she gets mad, it's her problem. If she accuses, it's her problem. If those are supposed to be her pictures, return them. Ask if you can make a copy, if you want them. Who's going to tell? How about if she ever reads your blog? Is keeping the album and then keeping it a secret, really the way to foster good relations? We cannot, in any way, justify dishonesty. I'm disappointed in the advice you've been given. I really expected more from my family. After all, as I read in another blog, it's the brothers who have all the faults." That is my opinion.
I am inclined to agree with Lori's first comment, just tell her you have them, because wouldn't you want to know where they are? First though I'd get help from Sharon how to tell Joyce that at least the pictures of you and what you took belong to you and you would be happy to return the pictures of Jim after you have scanned them. All the while letting her know you though they were yours anyway because they were there with your pictures.
It is a mystery to me why people have to wear offense and are eager for a fight or confrontation...Why couldn't Joyce have brought out and talked about the pictures with you there?
